Jack Jack is 41 weeks old today! He’s such a big boy these days it’s hard to a remember him as tiny as the day he was born. He’s scooting around on the floor. He’s picking up little pieces of food and attempting to lick them out of his hand (he hasn’t quite mastered getting it into his mouth the traditional way). He gets frustrated and excited. He laughs and sometimes, when he has an “uh oh” moment, he cries. He’s a full on little boy who is gearing up to take on the world of crawling and according to his doctor, he’s as healthy as can be.
Mommy’s going to do the unthinkable and tempt fate once again; I’m going to post at typical day with Jack . . .
- Jack usually wakes up around 7:30 in the morning. Occasionally, depending on how well he slept the night before, he might not stir until 8:00 or 9:00. On most mornings, Jack is able to smile at Daddy before he heads off to work.

Hello new day!
- Once Jack is awake and has greeted the world with a smile, he relaxes in his crib for a few minutes, watching and listening to his Rain Forest crib scene while holding on to Max. This gives Mommy the opportunity to prepare his morning bottle (8 oz.), to walk the dogs, and to feed the dogs.
- Mommy then whisks her Little Man out of his crib, changes his diaper, tickles/kisses his tummy, kisses his face, and gets him dressed for the day.
- Jack drinks his bottle and cuddles with Mommy for a little bit while we catch up on current events while watching MSNBC and the Today Show. After Jack has eaten and cuddled, he goes for a spin in his exer-saucer. By this time, it’s around 9:00, give or take a half hour.
- Mommy makes and eats her breakfast while Jack Jack jumps around like the little monkey he is. Then, Mommy works out right along her Little Man.
- By 9:30 it’s time for Jack to eat breakfast, which is typically a fruit yogurt and some juice – either Apple, Pear, or White Grape depending on what’s open.
- After Breakfast, Jack and Mommy go to Jack’s room where Mommy changes Jack’s diaper, reads him a short story, cuddles and loves on her little darling, and then hopefully by 10:00 or 10:15, Jack is snoozing.
- Jack’s morning nap usually lasts for about 45 minutes. During that time, Mommy gets dressed and picks up the house.
- When Jack wakes up, he’s ready for some serious play time! So, we head into the playroom where Jack has an assortment of board-books, stuffed animals, rattles, stackable rings, blocks, and various items that sing, whistle, and make fun noises. Jack spends some time exploring his little world while Mommy works on school work. Every so often Mommy will take a break and Jack and Mommy will sing a few songs, read a couple of books, or just goof around.

Captain Jack's Booty
- By noon, Jack is ready for another bottle (6 oz.). He drinks his milk and then is ready for some more exer-saucing. So while he’s jumping up and down again, Mommy makes her lunch.
- There is playing and exploring for a little while until around 1:00 when Jack takes his place as the High Chair Commander. He sits in his high chair in the dining room, again practicing with the finger foods while Mommy gets his lunch ready. Lunch typically consists of a couple of veggies with a mixed grain and some juice or water.
- Depending on what day it is, Jack will either play after lunch or he will take a bath. Bath time is one of Mommy’s favorite times. Jack splashes around and plays with his rubber duckies, bath books, and bath cups. He has so much fun. He even tries to take the shower hose Mommy uses to rinse him off away from me! He’s always curious about how things work. Bath time is usually over around 2:30.
- After bath time, Mommy takes Jack into his room where there are blankets on the floor along with his after bath accessories, cortisone cream, lotion, baby q-tips, diaper, comb, socks, after bath outfit, and baby massage gel. After Jack is dried off and has had all of his needs tended to, Mommy will give Jack a little baby massage to help him relax.
- Once Jack is dressed, Mommy gives Jack a bottle (6 oz), reads him a story, and then off to sleep for his afternoon nap. This is usually from 3:00 – 4:30 or 5:00.
- When Jack wakes up he is in a good, but groggy mood. Mommy spends some time helping him become fully alert. Usually with a game of peek-a-boo while he’s still in his crib. Then it’s time for another bottle (6 oz.).

Waiting for a bottle
- After Jack’s bottle, he’ll either hang out in his high chair or his exer-saucer while Mommy makes dinner.
- Around 5:30 or 6:00 Daddy arrives home with lots of hugs and kisses for the Baby Man! Baby Man returns the sentiment with lots of giggles and smiles.
- Family dinner time is around 6:15 where Daddy feeds Jack a meal with veggies, meat, some fruit, and juice. Afterwards we play or Jack and Daddy have some one on one time.
- In the neighborhood of 7:00, Daddy puts Jack in his night time diaper and his pjs. Then Jack has another bottle (4 – 6 oz.) and on most nights hears a bedtime story.
- Mommy and Daddy kiss Jack goodnight and give him loves before Daddy tucks him into to bed for the night.
So, that is how things usually go for Mommy and Jack during the week. We have fun and we accomplish a lot.
This week was a little different than most though. Jack had his 9 month check up at the doctor’s office. Jack is now 29 inches long and weighs 26 lbs and 13 oz.! He’s growing up big and strong. In fact, he’s such a trooper that when he received his seasonal flu shot, he didn’t even cry. Mommy was so proud of her brave boy.

Cute Jack Stories
Monday, while spending time in his exer-saucer, Mommy observed Jack being quite the little problem solver. I had attached a soft monkey book with a ring to the yellow wire arch on Jack’s exer-saucer. This was to give him something else he could play with on the exer-saucer as well as give him a book he couldn’t throw. Jack was having a lot of fun moving it up and down with his monkeys on the wire. Then he decided he wanted to look at just the book and began to look through the pages. Then, on accident, Jack dropped the book and it slid to the front side of the exer-saucer. Mommy watched Jack as he tried to reach for it with his right hand. With his chubby little fingers reaching and just barely grazing the fabric with his finger tips, he tried from the other side with his left hand. When this didn’t work he became a little frustrated and jumped up and down giving a screech. His bouncing caused his monkeys and as a result, the book to move. After seeing this, Jack immediately grabbed the monkeys, slid them up, thereby forcing the book up into his reach. He had quite the satisfied look on his face.
Tuesday, during playtime in his play room, Mommy was on the floor with Jack playing with the new rubber ball that Daddy had bought for him on Sunday. Jack watched as I tossed the ball up in the air and would catch it. He giggled as I did this repeatedly. Up and down, up and down. Then I gave Jack the ball. He smiled from ear to ear and squealed with delight. He held the ball and then looked straight up in the air. When the ball didn’t magically leap up from his hand into the air, he looked down at it with disappointment. He held it and screeched a little with frustration and looked up again. He dropped the ball with a rather upset look on his face. I promptly picked it back up again and resumed my tossing. The squeals and smiles resumed.
