October 13th, 2009 – Nine Month Birthday Tuesday

Jack is 9 months old and I can hardly believe it.  There are moments in life that you think ahead to and can’t imagine what it will be like to live them – this is one of those moments.  When I was pregnant with Little Man and all I knew of him was he had some ferocious kicks, I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to have him in my arms, let alone as a sturdy little boy always after mischief.  And yet, here we are.  Time flies when you’re having fun and chasing nap time.  Happy Birthday my little love, Mommy and Daddy love you more than anything.

As with most weeks, most of the exciting and reportable events take place over the weekend and this weekend was no exception.  As is our biweekly ritual, Saturday was our grocery day which meant two shopping trips, one to Costco and one to Fred Meyer.  As usual, our trip to Costco was punctuated with multitudes of people stopping us and commenting on Little Man’s hair and how adorable he is.  I don’t mean to sound as if this sort of thing isn’t nice (everyone likes to hear their baby is adored by the masses), but each trip there are at least 6 people who stop us and countless others who make comments within ear shot.  Mommy and Daddy know how beautiful our Baby Man is, we can hardly contain ourselves either.  This is why we have hundreds upon hundreds of photos of him and he’s only 9 months old.  I’m really going to have to beat them off with a stick when he reaches dating age.

To avoid market meltdowns ala last trip to Fred Meyer, Mommy and Daddy decided it would be wise to schedule a nap in between stores.  So, after Costco, we headed home, gave Jack a bottle, and snuggled him into his bed.  This was a wise decision as Jack Jack was very sleepy.

So sleepy...

So sleepy...

Upon Jack’s waking we were off again, this time to Fred Meyer.  Aside from wanting to grab everything within arms reach Jack was incredibly well behaved.  An elderly woman in line even commented on how “well mannered” he was.  This wouldn’t have been the tune she was singing on our last trip, but that was our fault.  As long as Jack is able to count on his schedule, he is practically a perfect little boy.

Sunday was quite the busy day for us.  Oma, Grandpa, and Aunt Danielle all came over for an afternoon Sunday BBQ!  Daddy grilled salmon, Brussels sprouts, and asparagus and Oma brought over a homemade apple pie.  Aunt Danielle couldn’t believe how big our darling little boy has gotten!  The past couple of times she had seen him he was a little more compact than he is now.

We all had so much fun.  Jack even ate lunch with us although he didn’t get to eat any salmon.  Next time we’ll be sure to grill him up some and put it in the food processor so he can enjoy Daddy’s Sunday food.  But, soon after eating, it was time for Little Man to go down for his afternoon nap.  So, he said a fond farewell to his afternoon visitors and headed off to nap time.

After Jack woke up from his nap, we all piled into the car and set off for the Outlet Mall.  Daddy had discovered that Carters, the brand of clothing we prefer for Jack, has a store out there.  With Jack growing as quickly as he has a tendency to do and the weather turning colder and colder by the day, we thought we would take a quick little trip out there to see if we could find any more cute clothes at affordable prices. Well, with everything practically 70% off, Mommy and Daddy found where we will be buying all of Jack’s clothes from now on and to sweeten the deal, they had the cutest clothes you could imagine.  We couldn’t resist buy Jack a few more bulldog outfits and even a pair of baby moccasins.

Most recently, the days of Jack have been filled with crawling practice.  He still isn’t crawling, but boy can that kid scoot!  Mommy will leave Jack on the floor in front of me while I’m working on school assignments only to look up a moment later to see him practically on the other side of the room.  He’s also quite resourceful.  If there is a toy that is out of reach but can be acquired by using a tool, i.e. pulling the blanket with the toy on it closer, the he will.  Today, Jack had two pillows on either side of him and out of the blue he decided to grab one and position it behind himself so he could lounge on it.  He’s quite a clever little boy.

So much fun!

One of Jack’s new favorite activities is dancing.  Music has been a big part of Jack’s life even before he was born. Mommy would drive around town blasting different types of music and explain them to Jack. “This is Eddie Money, he’s 80’s music”.  And since Jack was an infant Mommy and Daddy would play music and dance around with him.  As of late, since Jack discovered his knees, he likes to hold on to Mommy’s fingers while he stands and bounce up and down to the music.  He is quite the fan of techo/electronica.  It’s no wonder he’s such a tired little guy by the end of the day.
