Fall is upon us and not a moment too soon! Jack, who is now a whopping 38 weeks old, can barely fit into his warmer weather attire. This week it was time to move him into his fuzzy pjs and long sleeve outfits, complete with warm hoodies (the cutest thing for a baby to wear in Mommy’s opinion).
Of course, a transition into a new wardrobe hasn’t been the only happening in the household this week. Thursday night, Grandma Cavanagh and Aunt Jentry arrived for a visit. Unfortunately Jack was asleep for this arrival, but he was thrilled to see them the following afternoon when he awoke from his morning nap. After a little time to cuddle and to get reacquainted, it was off to Fuddruckers!

Are those my fries???
Jack was a little disappointed he didn’t get Mommy’s burger and onion rings, but was more than thrilled upon seeing his lunch.

It looks like Pepsi but tastes like formula....
Then we had our traditional Sunday BBQ, albeit on Friday. While Mommy prepped the food for the BBQ, Daddy made food for Jack. Jack has worked his way through all of the baby food that Daddy made when he was 5 months old and with Jack’s dietary advancements, it was time for new food. So, Daddy whipped up some Green Beans with Organic Whole Wheat Pasta, Chicken Dinner, and a lot of fruit to be puréed (only to the point of stage 2-3 foods). Then, he put them in ice cube trays and froze them for future meals. They definitely taste better than the Gerber jarred foods and Jack seems to like them too.
Saturday, Jack was having quite the grumpy morning. For whatever reason, he decided (the boy who has been waking up at 9 AM, 8:00 at the earliest) that he wanted to be awake at 7 AM. This pretty much set the tone for the rest of the morning, which felt like the longest of our lives. After going through our normal morning routine, granted way earlier than usual, Mommy put Jack down for his morning nap. This is where the grumping and yelling began and didn’t stop for a few hours. Apparently Jack had become overtired and didn’t want to snooze and he had no qualms with letting the whole neighborhood know this. Eventually Jack slipped into slumber even if it was begrudgingly.
Grandma Cavanagh and Aunt Jentry had to head back home later that afternoon, but they came by for one last visit. Fortunately Jack woke up from his nap just in time to snag some last minute snuggles and love before they left.

Jack always enjoys time with his out of state family
Sunday was a pretty laid back day for Jack and Daddy. They spent the day playing and spending time together. I had a lot of school work to catch up on so I was M.M.I.A (Mommy Missing In Action), but it’s always good for the boys to hang out and do boy stuff together.
Monday was a pretty big day for Jack. He stood up for the first time! While I was folding laundry in the Theatre and Jack was playing on the floor, he scooted himself over to the ottoman and for a split second, he pulled himself up to his feet. It was awesome! I tried to get him to do it again for the camera, but he continued to find other things more fascinating.
Jack is growing way too fast. I remember when Daddy and I were blown away when he first smiled at us and now he’s standing, only a little ways away from crawling – My how the time does fly. Little Man ate spaghetti for the first time tonight and boy was it a sight and I’m sure in a few months from now, I’ll look back and think “Wow, he was so small then, what happened?”, but oddly enough, the one thing that never changes as he grows, the beauty of his smile, even if it is covered in food.

Can't laugh and eat at the same time!

Hey my little grandbaby. I like your new teeth. They are very cute, just like you. We had so much fun spending time with all of you and seeing all the new things that you have learned to do. You are learning to talk your own language and you do it very well. I bet it means alot to you Pretty soon we will hear just what you are saying. We had fun at Fudrucker’s. I loved seeing all the good food that your daddy made for you. You are a healthy, happy little guy. Can’t wait to see you again. We love you all very much. Grandma Cavanagh and Aunt Jentry
Jack says:
Hi Grandma! Thanks for coming out to visit. We had fun. Dad got the pictures up late this week so I hope you come back to see the photos of your visit.
Love you lots,
Jack
